Abstract:
A method for the determination of dimethyl oxazolidine preservatives in cosmetics by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with pre-column derivatization was developed. The samples were extracted with 50% acetonitrile solution, derivatized with 9-fluorenylmethyl carbonyl chloride before column, and separated on a RRHD-C18(2.1 × 50 × 1.7 μm) column, high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector, retention time and UV absorption spectrum qualitative, external standard method. The results showed that the calibration curves were linear in the range of 1.00~20.0 mg/L with correlation coefficients more than 0.9990; the limits of detection and quantification were 6.50 mg/kg and 20.0 mg/kg, respectively. The average recoveries ranged from 83.4% to 99.6%, and the intra-day and inter-day precision (RSD,n = 6) were 2.1%-6.7% and 5.0%-7.8%, respectively. The detection limit, recovery rate and precision of the method can meet the determination requirements of dimethyl oxazolidine preservatives in cosmetics.stowed
